A Life Change

Okay so I have been overweight forever, and I have always felt HUGE and GROSS, but when I look back I wasn't as huge as I am now. I feel so disgusted that I have let it get this out of control. I t is as if I fell asleep for 10 years and woke up fat, The truth is That I have ignored it for 10 years and Have gotten to the point that I can't ignore it another minute. A great friend of mine, who is also a doctor, pulled me aside and and explained how concerned he is. He discussed it with me with such care, I could feel his concern. He explained that it is time we considered doing the "surgery" (Gastric Banding). I walked away from that discussion so intent on doing my very best to lose the weight to avoid the Surgery. so here I am.

Today I hardly ate anything, but I can tell you that I ate everything all wrong. I was home with my little guy who was sick and I watched TV all day. So I really need to watch what goes in tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a new day!

One step at a time!

Lori not eating anything is WRONG!

You know I have been on a diet for the past 2 months and I have learned that you have to eat at least every 4 hours. Eat healthy. No starch, no soda pop, no sugar.

I found that eating salad can be a good thing. You can use your imagination with salad i.e., tuna, egg, salsa and use your favorite dressings in small amounts of course. Try to drink a protein shake for breakfast and lunch then at dinner eat a sensible meal like salad and chicken or fish or steak or a hamburger pattie. You can add cottage cheese or a baked yam or sliced tomatoes, Call me if you need help with the menu thing. Since I have had to become creative I have some ideas like the chicken cooked in salsa on a whole wheat tortilla with cottage cheese is great.

Snacks? Yes but be careful. Eat almonds or celery with salsa or pretzels they are all low in calories, You really want to watch your calories.

Be sure to drink 8 eight oz glasses of water everyday. This was very hard for me but I decided that 8 oz is one cup and so i got my favorite glass and filled poured 8 oz of cold water in it and drank it down. I leave my favorite glass where I can see it and I keep 8 eight oz glasses of water in a container in the fridg so at the end of the day i know I know I have drank 8 glasses. An 8 oz glass or one cup is 12 swallows...I made a game of it.

Anyway I am here if you want to talk or if you get tempted. I have lost 14 lbs in 2 months and I know you can do it too. You know how much I hate to exercise but Last week I made myself do it three times for 20 minutes.

You go girl. Let that butterfly OUT!
Love You

Hi Lori,

I couldn't agree with Patti (your lovely MIL) MORE!!

Did you hear; On the news they did a two year study on the "Atkins (low carb~/high protein diet) VS (The all carb and low protein diet) Well my friend
"Hands down"...."Atkins" and "The Zone" diets WON and got the most results in loosing Weight and loss of excess pounds.

Please if you can pick up one of these Books and look through it. Or Better yet Call our MIL, sounds like she knows how to eat that way.

Seriously, the more "good fats" such as protein healthy meats you can eat all you want, and still LOOSE WEIGHT, you can't beat that girl!!

I encourage you all the way...and Love your "NEW BLOG HERE!!"

Love ya!

Lori,
Tonight at VBS, I was supposed to be Mary in the drama. After it was over, Holden told me some of the kids were laughing and making fun of me. He said it was only cause I looked funny dressed like that. Totally innocent comment from him, but it hurt.

I have heard so many times about kids who make fun of someone's mom for being fat.....tonight it was me! I am my heaviest ever! My husband loves me regardless, but I am hating it right now!!!

Praying for both us us....RI in TX

Hi Lori!
You have to eat because your body will retain the weight otherwise. It will go into survival mode and stop burning those calories. A few years back I lost an ovary and this has caused me to gain weight. Hormonal imbalance is a big deterrent to losing weight. One thing you may want to do is get a medical check-up and find out where your hormone levels are at. It may help in the weight loss process. Like you said one step at a time.

Blessings!
Nancy

P.S. I joined curves two months ago. I've lost 1 inch and 8 pounds. It is a constant struggle for me because of the hormonal imbalance. I've chosen to try to address this problem naturally. I'm learning to really trust the Lord in the path he has me on.
